Everything Is Better With Bacon
In TSG Miami Florida
Was there ever a truer statement? Bacon & eggs, BLTs, bacon wrapped dates, brussel sprouts and pancetta (fancy bacon)… bacon is hard to beat. So when last week found us with a few free hours, we decided it was about time to get over to Miami Smokers and see what all the fuss was about because Miami Smokers specializes in bacon.
Andres Barrientos and James Bowers started Miami Smokers in a few coolers while working at a catering company. Their goal? To make better bacon. Soon the business moved into Bowers’ Coconut Grove apartment, where they produced mounds of the smoky, salty stuff for various pop-ups around the city. In 2014, the guys found a permanent home at NW 27th Avenue giving them the room to makes thousands of pounds of bacon annually and a lineup of crafted sandwiches.
The menu has expanded over the last two years and on this day we picked two – the BBQ Berk Sammich and the Havana Club. The BBQ Berk is made up of fall apart Berkshire butt, sauce, frise, bacon crumbles and spicy mayo on a potato roll. The Havana Club includes lechon, swiss cheese, spicy mayo, avocado puree, bacon, frise on grilled sourdough. Both are served with a side of delicious “pink slaw.” We were undecided about who chose better because they were both AH-maz-ing.
